20 November Wedding Dinner @ Regent

After the tea ceremony on 18 November, the wedding dinner was scheduled on 20 November at the Regent Hotel.

That evening took a taxi down and along at Raffles City area, a 4 lane road had been closed to only 2 lanes. There also so many police officers and Gurkhas due to the ASEAN Summit.

We were the first to reach despite there was a jam. Soon my eldest cousin family came. Earlier on my mum bought KFC cheese fries for the kids.

The 3 treasures enjoying the side dish before the dinner started.

Soon the rest of the relatives arrived and there was alot of catching up. We were arranged to sit with my 3rd Uncle's family and 3rd Aunt's family.

Realtives and close friends being invited to the stage to YUMMMMMM YUMMMMM YUMMMM SENGGGGG!!!

My mum feeling very excited, but we no idea which camera to look at.

18 Nov Cousin Wedding tea ceremony

18 November was the date when my cousin i call him Ah Seng korkor would be having the traditional Chinese tea ceremony.

Apparently he had engaged with his wife for a few years and had been living together.

The handsome groom and gorgeous bride.

Seeing his elder brother getting married with 3 kids, him married and his younger brother getting married, makes me feel very old.

It was just like yesterday when they were around my age and I was still young studying primary school.

Last time no PC, PS2, Xbox, Wii, PSP, having a Super Nintendo System playing Mario on 2d graphics was godsend. Most of my toys were also given by them. Toy cars and Legos.

I think kids should play Legos and lesser electronics stuff. Lego is cheap simulate the brain o be creative. Well that was the yesteryear.

The young couple are dog lovers and during the Lunar Dog Year, they brought their dogs to bai nian. LOL!!!

Last Day of work at NCS 13 November 2007.

Time flew so fast as i had already worked in NCS for a year and its time for me to say goodbye.

The reasons for leaving was primarily looking for a more hands on technical approach position. The location is very far, my journey to work is 1h. Despite being 1 year on shift i could still not adapt to the timing. I guess I am still more suited to office-hrs environment.

Cons
1) Pay
2) Job scope
3) Location

Pros
1) Lot of offs
2) Nice staff/ colleagues
3) No need wear formal to work.
4) Caring and understanding team lead.

People whom I like to thank for their teaching and guidance throughout the year.

Deepavali

Kai wanted to eat the shark meat and jellied pork trotters at Jalan Besar, as recommended by ieatishootipost's blog.

Saw on the site the stall closes at 3pm, therefore met Lavender MRT 130pm.

Finally found the place after walking 15mins from Laavender MRT. Its the hawker centre along the Jalan Besar Road. Reached the stall and saw their prices, $5/ $10/ $15 wah sibei exp leh. They specialized shark meat, jellied pig trotters and mixed meat, even for the special sauce and topping would cost you. It was said that the boss handmade the sauce using plum.

We ordered $5 of shark meat, $5 or jellied trotters and another bowl of turtle soup opposite the stall.

Exotic man!!!

$5 worth of shark meat, cold and funny texture.

$5 worth of Jellied trotter, again cold and funny texture.
Lao Liang

After a very exotic lunch, headed to SLS to walk around. Then went to Queensway to look at shoes.

For dinner Kai ordered Ba Kut Teh and me Vinegar Pig Trotter at ABC market. He recommended the Avocado Juice which is very nice. I tried it, $2 or a sweet, fragrant creamy drink is cheap. Sorry no picture, 1st mouth half cup gone.

Birthday Eve 10 November 07

Missed the birthday party where I organized 2ys back when i was in camp. My friends came over to savour my mum's mee siam and other delicacies. ent again, but th thought

Wanted to replicate the event again but when the thoughts of cooking, invitation i sianz liaoz. As my campmates are dependent on each other.

e.g. You invite A to go, A will ask B got go? B will ask C got go .. goes on. When u tell A, B&C got go, he will ask D&E leh. KNN

In the end told Xiang Xin and Jimmy lets eat dinner outside. They would able to make it. Jim got classes and can meet around 6 and XX got a training cap at Yishun which would end at 7PM.

My craving is Jap food. So told them either Wisma or Central Square where we can eat Ma Maison or Tom Ton. Met Jimmy earlier and walked around Orchard. In the end we chose to go central as more choices. Ate at Ton Ton as could not find Ma Maison waited a short while before given a seat facing the river.

Side dish Salmon fish head in Teriyaki sauce. Yummy, wacked till not a morsel of meat left. LOL!!!

XX's order black pig fillet, very different from the rest.

Jimmy order of some pork fillet with egg. I ordered my favourite Sukiyaki again, for the fantastic soup, its worth scalding my tongue LOL!!!

After dinner wanted to eat Ben & Jerry as dessert but no outlets near Central so we walked around and went to Clarke Quay. Clarke Quay was crowded with mainly ang moh.

Tried the turkish ice-cream for the first time very special with many flavours. Walked around and saw this unique pub/club called Clinic C. The patrons sit on wheelchair and drink from the drip bag. Too bad the waitiress does not don a nurse attrie. Next time must try, then we can have a wheelchair race.

Walked til MOS and saw a Aston Martin with a car license "TJM". Is this allowed? Sorry no pics. After walking around decided to eat at Hagen Daz.

Choc chip cookie, mango ice-cream with 2 pieces brownie.

Macademia nuts, lemon and strawberry ice cream with waffle. $5 for an additional scoop. Their top flavour is strawberry, where you could even taste the flesh. But after eating Hagen Daz, STILL LOSE Ben & Jerry. I don't know how to explain could be the quality of the ice-cream. Ben & Jerry ice-cream don't melt easily and flavours are more interesting.

Very cool Jimmy after eating so much ice-cream.

Chill till around 2am where they were closing. We took the nightrider back. The whole street was filled with taxis.

Thanks bro for celebrating birthday with me.

Birthday 11 November 2007

Mum mentioned very long eaten steamboat, so had steamboat lor. Steamboat has a very strong significance, eaten during cold seasons with the round shape representing warmth and reunion. Thats the reason why people eat steamboat for reunion dinner.

Kai called to meet for dinner as he had not eaten a single meal LOL! Crazy. Met him at Haig Road still queuing for the famous Putu Piring as recommended by ieatishootipost again. No pics as the food was eaten on the way to find another dish recommended by the blogger. Hor Fun.

Putu Piring

I think Kai queued at least 30mins. The skin is very soft and gula melaka filling sweet and fragrant. We finished the putu piring while hunting for the Hor Fun.

My top food irregardless of ranking.

1) Hor Fun
2) Mee Siam
3) Chicken Rice

I am very fortunate my house has a stall selling great Cze Char. I wonder the food is so cheap and delicious why doesn't it have any accolades or awards. Despite not being famous, be prepared to wait for 30mins - 1h on weekends. Its $3 serving is equivalent to $5 serving sold outside.

I tried Crystal Jade's Hor Fun which costs $12 dammn exp but delicious. I was really excited in trying this stall's quality.

The stall is located along Joo Chiat. When you reached the Dunman Food Centre cross-junction turn left towards Geylang Serai. Its stall is Yellow and Red.

We ordered Hor Fun, Hey Zou (Like Wu Xiang but with prawns) and a soup.

$10 Hor Fun with mushrooms, pig liver, pork, pig kidney and even sea cucumber. The kway teow not really good compared to the stall at my house. But there's the rest of ingredients to backup.

Sea cucumber located in the background.

Hor Fun
Changi Lor 108 Fei Lao Seafood
229 Joo Chiat Road

11am to 2pm
5pm to 10pm

After dinner went to meet Zhi Qiang, Zao Hong and Hong Jing at Katong Laksa. After that we went to Bedok 85 for supper.

My birthday present self bought. Ah Bing Ge Gua Tia Xiu Part 4 in DVD cheap. After viewing it, not as funny as part 1 and part 2. Did not bought 3 as the cover doesn't seem tempting.

Visting my cousin and his 3 treasures

Some time back went to visit my cousin new house at Tampines and also to see his eldest son and younger twins.

His new house is a HDB masionette overlooking a very nice view. Previously was staying at Punggol.

His eldest son, Chong Chong savouring the KFC cheese fries we bought.

His twin son Yang Yang, very cute. 1 big cup of coke shared between 3 people, father, brother and him.

His twin daughter, Xuan Xuan very funny character LOL.

29 Sept Paintball @ Orchid Country Club.

Kai colleagues had actually booked a game of paintball and was lacking 1 more player, I agreed to joined in.

Last Saturday met Kai @ Paya Lebar MRT and headed to Yishun to meet his colleagues. From Yishun, there would be a free shuttle service to Orchid Country Club.

Reached OCC, walked towards the paintball counter and told to sign the death will, in case anything happens. Choi !

The guys change behind the office, while the ladies had to change near the golf's driving range. The guys attire was unison no4, except for 1 guy who dressed in mechanics overall.

CS Map, de_orchird_country_club.map

Lots of rules.

The gun
On the top its filled with paintballs which is made of edible material. The size of the round is bigger than a marble. Towards the butt, is a gas canister to pressurize the chamber to fire the round. Safety mechanism to lock the gun to safety and firing mode. The gun is light less than 2kg.

The Gear
Protective masks to protect the head and face. You can even wear specs and will not affect your masks. The masks is modified to allow breathing so would not be stuffy.

A vest to protect the upper torso. Too bad guys, no protection for privates, take care !

Game Play
Mission 1
Shoot down 2 targets, 1 big and 1 small on opposite end to proceed to with second mission.

Mission 2
Bring your ammo box back to base without being shot at.

If you are being shot, raise your hand and run back to hospital. Then tap the shed and revive, infinite lives LOL!

1 booking lasts for 2h including rests and briefing.
A round of game, depends how long each side completed both objectives.

In total we played 4 rounds.

We took the 2000 round package for 8 players, so each player got 250 rounds to fire, MAYHEM !!!

Coincidentally, I was in the same team with Kai for 4 rounds. Our team had to depend on his bravery to rush and get the ammo box, while the rest cover his ass LOL!

Favourite camp spots is called the sniper tower. Due to higher ground, you take down your targets faster and difficult to be shoot at. I think most of my rounds are exhausted at suppressing the enemy sniper while our team completes the objective.

In my last round, after being hit and on my way back to hospital, I was badly hit by a round on my left hand. The injured part swell and bled. You could still see the outline of the paintball.

Group photo of the terrorists.

Badly injured hand.

At the end of hte game, we headed to the golf driving range to washup.

After washup. took shuttle bus back to Yishun where Kai and I headed to AMK S11 for dinner. Ordered Japanese food. After dinner took bus to go Ge Tai hunting at Chai Chee.

We checked from Li XIng Wu Tai Xiu's website there's a Ge Tai at Chai Chee today. We alighted at Chai Chee techno pak and headed nearby Jimmy's house to find any tentage. After much combing saw a tentage not Ge Tai but wayang.

Kai mentioned another temple near the ITE and went to try our luck. After searching for close to 15min final heard the faint sounds of singing. Just opposite an industrial park and beside a aged home was a temple. There it was the Ge Tai.

Too bad my favourite hosts Ling Li was not around and the host was called Jun Long. Performance was not bad and did managed to see Lee Pei Fen performing.
